The Mission of Natchaug Hospital is to provide a continuum of accessible, community-based services for those living with psychiatric illness, chemical dependency, or emotional and related educational disabilities with a commitment to the dignity and privacy of those needing services, empowering them to participate in their own care, education and recovery.

Child Services * Autism Spectrum Disorder Evaluations - Natchaug Hospital provides a comprehensive Autism Spectrum evaluation that includes thorough diagnostic interviews, structured observations of the youth, and measures of emotional, social, and behavioral functioning.
* Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Evaluations - Natchaug Hospital's ADHD evaluations include a variety of measures completed by the youth, parent/caregiver, and teacher(s), as well as a computerized assessment to directly measure the youth's attention.
* Intensive-In Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPS) - The program was developed in 1996 by a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and mental health providers at Yale University to meet the growing needs of families with children with persistent psychiatric disorders. The objective is to keep children at home and reduce the frequency of out-of-home placements or hospitalizations.
The model stresses collaboration with the families and utilizes a formulated structure to track progress. Interaction, problem solving, understanding of strengths and vulnerabilities help the team, family and child to meet the treatment goals they establish.
* Child Intensive Outpatient Treatment - Natchaug's Joshua Center Programs treat children as young as six and as old as 17 who are struggling with psychiatric or substance abuse issues, but do not require inpatient care.
Comprehensive assessment, which may include: > Comprehensive aftercare planning. > Family, group, and individual therapy. > Occupational and creative rehabilitation therapy.
* Extended Day Treatment - The Extended Day Treatment program for children and adolescents is particularly helpful for individuals with special needs who are in foster care.
* Inpatient Treatment - Natchaug Hospital provides a wide range of psychiatric and substance-abuse treatment for children, adolescents and adults at our 57-bed Mansfield Center inpatient facility.
* Intensive-In Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPS)
Young Adult Services The Young Adult Program is where 18 to 25-year olds can feel comfortable dealing with the issues that are unique to their stage of life. The Program serves men and women in this age group who are struggling due to mental illness, occupational or educational problems, relationship issues, family conflict, addictions or other influences that interfere with their day-to-day functioning.
Adult Services * Inpatient Treatment - Natchaug Hospital provides a wide range of psychiatric and substance-abuse treatment for adults at our 33-bed adult inpatient unit.
* Partial Hospitalization Treatment & Intensive Outpatient Treatment - We focus on creating a therapeutic environment where people can learn strategies for coping and improve their functioning.
When people need intensive, comprehensive treatment for psychiatric and chemical dependency issues but do not need inpatient or residential hospital care, Natchaug offers intensive, structured clinical treatment in programs that may include up to six hours of treatment a day, five days a week.
Ambulatory Detoxification - Medication-assisted treatment uses both Suboxone and therapy to help people into recovery from opioid dependency. Suboxone helps reduce addictive cravings and allows patients to remain more functional and involved in their families, jobs and communities throughout recovery.
Older Adults Program The Natchaug Hospital Adult Program serves men and women ages 55 and older* struggling with mental illness or substance abuse. Treatment is designed to address the unique needs and challenges faced by older adult patients in a group therapy environment.
Natchaug offers a holistic approach to treatment with multiple ways to engage clients in the treatment process. Older adults in the program will participate in a number of treatment approaches with a primary focus on intensive group therapy. Groups are primarily education, experiential and didactic with topics such as: * Stress management * Loss resolution * Life skill development * Relapse prevention * Medication education * Chronic illness management

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
