We provide individual and family therapy (both in our office, or your home), psychiatric evaluations and medication management. When a child struggles emotionally, the reasons why can be complex. Our team of mental health experts help children and teens address a range of emotional and behavioral issues. Whether it is anxiety, trauma, depression, stress, ADHD or something else effecting your child's emotional well-being, we offer answers and support. We provide children and families with culturally-informed mental health care and complementary supports, regardless of ability to pay. We strive to increase the emotional well-being of the people we serve and create stable and nurturing environments for children.

Youth in Crisis - Our skilled clinical team offers a range of crisis supports tailored to your family's unique needs. From community-based emergency mental health assistance within 45 minutes to clinic-based counseling services within two hours, to our research-based substance use programs, we will help heal your child in crisis.
Outpatient Behavioral Health and Psychiatric Services - We provide mental health services to children and families experiencing emotional and behavioral concerns. While most children require routine support, our team is able to accommodate families within two days-or even two hours-depending on the level of urgency. Psychiatric services and medication management are also available.
Substance Use Programs - Underage drinking and drug use is sky-rocketing in Connecticut. We work with youth to help them develop pro-social activities and behaviors to prevent or decrease the use of controlled substances. For parents who struggle with substance use and are at risk of their children removed from the home, we offer intensive in-home support
Outpatient Behavioral Health - We provide mental health services to children and families experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. Our team of clinicians offers an approach that is solution-focused and strength-based. We work with families to create individualized plans of care. We help stabilize families, guide children through mental and emotional struggles using a wide range of evidence-based models.

Early Childhood Consultation Partnership - This program is designed to meet the social and emotional needs of children birth to five years old, who are in early care or education settings. Masters-level clinicians provide support and training to caregivers at the individual, family or classroom level. We help teachers and parents promote enduring and optimal outcomes for young children.
Functional Family Therapy Program - This short-term, intensive intervention program is designed for families with 11- to 18-year-old youth who have been referred for behavioral or emotional problems by the juvenile justice, mental health, school, or child welfare systems. Treatment incorporates an average of 12 to 14 sessions over three to five months. Services are conducted in both the clinic, home, and community settings. Functional Family Therapy is a strength-based model build on a foundation of acceptance and respect.
Reunification & Therapeutic Family Time - This intensive, in-home service model supports family members subsequent to the removal of a child due to abuse or neglect. The frequency of sessions is based the family's unique circumstances. There is a minimum of one home visit per week prior to reunification of the family, two visits weekly in the first 30 days after reunification, and one visit weekly after that. To ensure continued stability and success, we link families to appropriate community services prior to exiting our program. Connecticut Department of Children and Families referral only.
Care Coordination & Community Support for Families - These programs help children with serious behavioral health needs remain in their home and community with easy access to services and supports. We help families identify goals, eliminate barriers, and tap into resources for their child. Families are guided by their team of supports to empower the family and get closer to a 'better life'. Participation in Community Support for Families is only by referral from the Department of Children & Families.
Fees and Payment
We promise to serve all patients and offer discounted fees for patients who qualify. We will not deny services based on a person's race, color, sex, national origin, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or inability to pay. We accept insurance, including Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). We are also a nonprofit agency.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
