Services Offered
Behavioral Health for Children, Teens and Families
Child and Family Therapy Services Program - At Unison Health, we recognize that most families want to stay together. By building on the family's strengths, we can make that happen. The Child and Family Therapy Program works with families just like yours, helping maintain, support and preserve the family unit. By creating significant positive changes, your strengthened family will be better equipped to remain intact, safely and securely.
Children ages 5-17 with a mental health diagnosis are eligible, as well as family members with mental health symptoms that impact family functioning. In addition to helping young people navigate life's emotional challenges, the program benefits children in foster care, and even those in jeopardy of being removed from their home or school setting.
Early Childhood Mental Health Therapy - Unison Health's Early Childhood Mental Health Therapy team is committed to supporting the parents and guardians of young children. That's why we offer treatment services, including individual therapy and family therapy, as well as parenting groups for children age 0-5.
Children often need help coping with difficulties such as divorce or other life adjustments. Other children and families may be struggling with more serious issues, such as abuse, neglect, or severe emotional disorders. Any of these children may benefit from Early Childhood Mental Health Therapy. Whether the children are at risk for out-of-home placement, or are already in placement outside their homes, these treatment services can help facilitate successful reunification with their families.
School-based Programming - Is your child having difficulty regulating his or her feelings or behavior-or showing signs of depression, anxiety, ADHD or other disruptive behavioral concerns? Our school-based programming can help improve classroom performance and encourage emotional self-control. By helping your child identify their interests and abilities, and develop their organizational skills, we can help them develop decision-making and conflict-resolution skills that utilize individual strengths.
This programming runs on the Toledo Public School calendar and is offered in a number of schools, 5 days per week. Office-based services are also available when school is closed.
Adult Behavioral Health Treatment - The Unison Health team offers individualized behavioral health treatment for conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, domestic violence (offender and survivor), adjustment disorders, relationship issues, grief, anger management and stress management. At Unison Health you will be matched with a therapist skilled in treating your specific mental health need. You will work collaboratively with your therapist to develop a treatment plan tailored for you in a judgment free environment. Our therapists utilize evidence-based practices to not only challenge you, but to empower you to maintain gains well after you reach your treatment goals.
In addition to individual counseling sessions, clients can participate in group therapy where they can hear one another's stories and know that they are not alone. Groups are led by licensed therapists and several types of group options are available. Unison also provides in-depth psychological testing and assessment - when medically necessary. Our testing is designed to get to the root of a client's concerns.
SPERA Day Treatment - Unison Health's Adult SPERA program exists to help adults coping with mental illness regain hope and take more effective action to improve their lives by interrupting recurring hospitalizations, reducing stigma, and stabilizing symptoms. The interdisciplinary team works with clients to improve their ability to use strengths, skills, treatment, and community resources more successfully. SPERA's group schedule includes: Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Cognitive Enhancement Therapy (CET), Adult Day Treatment, Art Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This voluntary program is available five days per week, 2.5 hours per day. Transportation is coordinated as needed.
Center for the Treatment of Anxiety - When anxiety goes beyond the usual stresses of day-to-day living and prevents you from living a full life. Unison Health's Center for the Treatment of Anxiety can help you take on each day with a calmer, more positive outlook. We treat a range of anxiety-related disorders, for adolescents and adults including: * Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) * Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) * Panic Disorders * Social Anxiety * Phobias * Chronic Worry * Stress-Related Issues
While the Center most often uses therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat anxiety-related disorders, medications can also be administered by our in-house psychiatric team.

Fees and Payment
We are dedicated to providing affordable services. Unison accepts Ohio Medicaid and most private insurances.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
