Mental Health Counseling Professional mental health counselors provide therapy for family members in a comfortable and supportive environment. Parenting Classes Our parenting education classes use Nurturing Parenting, a nationally recognized "best practices" program. This Nurturing Parent Program is for parents of Infants, Toddlers, Preschoolers, Elementary age children and Teens. The word nurture means to promote and nourish growth. The primary essence of nurturing forms the primary goal of the Nurturing Parenting Program: to teach parents to promote and nourish themselves, their children and their environment. To this end, the Nurturing Program addresses five primary issues: 1) Age appropriate expectations and self-worth; 2) Responding empathetically to your child's needs; 3) Disciplining your child with dignity; 4 )Self-awareness and appropriate family roles; and 5) Empowering your child and adults.
Substance Use Counseling Our outpatient substance use program is designed for adolescents, age 21 and under, along with their families who are experiencing difficulties in their lives related to substance abuse. Urinalysis testing is done with the initial assessment and throughout treatment.

Healthy Start Northshore Our program provides services to young parents up to age 24 who are pregnant and/or with their first child (up to 12 months old). We provide support, information, and referrals to assist parents in making healthy choices for themselves and their families. We also offer parent support groups and help with baby essentials such as diapers, formula, car seats, etc. Most support is home based.

Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration This program services Washington State's highest risk youth, and includes drug and alcohol assessments, referrals, and individual and group treatment. All clients for this program are referred by court order.
Juvenile Intervention Program Our program is designed for youth who have committed a first time, non-violent offense. The intervention program's objective is to provide proactive prevention and early intervention strategies to assist at-risk youth and their families in developing the skills necessary to succeed. Our goal is to reduce the likelihood of youth offending again.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
