Marriage Counseling - Marriage counseling is an important focus of Fuller Life. Typical areas of focus include pre-marital, intimacy issues, and counseling that sensitively explores sexual issues. We also explore communication skills and education. At times the focus includes blended/step-family issues, parenting issues and education, conflict resolution, divorce recovery or co-parenting. Fuller Life values counseling as healing resources for couples and families.
Family Counseling - Our family counselors desire to improve the quality of family life through nurturing and supportive therapy. We recognize that there are many transitions in the family life cycle that create challenges (having children, adolescent and teen years, aging parents, illnesses, loss, divorce, financial struggles). Together, we look at the ways families can get stuck and experience distress during these times or transition.
We see the family as a whole. Counseling helps to create a healthy hierarchy where the parents are united in their parenting approach and provide consistent rules and expectations for children to follow. We help parents set boundaries around giving, and teaching responsibility. We also work with parents to help them listen to the needs and wants of their children without judgment, criticism, and stonewalling. We aim to restore children's faith and trust in their parents' ability to be responsive. Our therapists desire to create connection, trust, and safety in the family system to empower parents to successfully navigate the challenge of life's transitions.
Counseling with Teens - At Fuller Life, we recognize the transition between childhood and adulthood is full of challenges. Parents often feel lost about how to help their child in the midst of today's changing youth. Teens feel alone, yet simultaneously desire independence as they navigate their developing identity amidst changing bodies, emotions and fears.
At Fuller Life, we understand issues common for adolescents and how families can work best to come together to chart the best course possible. Some of the things we can help kids and their parents navigate include any number of situations from family difficulties, anxiety, depression, peer pressure at school, eating disorders, cutting behaviors, drug or alcohol use, school issues, abuse, mental illness, sexual activity, or other stressful situations.
Adolescent and family counseling can help rebuild trust in families, teach effective communication and help to transition the relationships from parent to child toward being adult parent to adult child. Additionally, through proven strategies and interventions, adolescents can learn how to deal with emotions more effectively, identify unhelpful thinking patterns, choose new ways of thought that encourage self-respect and positive choices, and learn to eliminate self-destructive or inappropriate behaviors.
Counseling Kids - We have a therapy room designed specifically to work with children through play therapy, a validated and effective treatment for children. Why play therapy? Play is the language of a child. Play therapy builds upon the normal communication and learning style of children. As a play therapist engages the child, the child will express what is bothering them through play when they do not have the cognitive ability to express their thoughts and feelings through language. Toys are to children what words are to adults.
Individual Counseling - Individual Counseling considers the unique person and situation. It fosters growth and healing to help clients reach their goals, improve relationships, create deeper peace, and experience greater joy in life. Additionally, therapy can address depression, anxiety, anger and stress management, addiction, trauma, grief, personal growth, and/or eating disorders. Each therapist on staff specializes in different areas to provide more tailored treatment to the individual.

Qualifying for assistance from Texas' program usually depends on the severity of your condition and financial circumstance. Read our full guide to Texas' program.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
