Confidential Help for Alcohol and Drugs, Inc. (C. H. A. D.) provides a number of chemical dependency programs to residents of Auburn, Cayuga County, and surrounding areas which includes treatment and prevention services without regard to race, color, creed, sex, national origin, sexual orientation or ability to pay. We seek to enable individuals to improve their lived and reach their full potential by treating the disease of chemical depenency through physical, mental and spiritual rehabilitation.

Individual Counseling
The outpatient counseling program at the agency offers ivdividualized treatment based on the needs derived from the evaluation process. Often individual counseling will be used as an adjunct to the group process. In cases where the appropriate group is not available, individual counseling sessions will be recommended. The use of individual counseling is the primary treatment mode for young children and significant others.
Mental Health
Patients are assessed by a Board certified Physician when mental health issues present in early recovery and throughout treatment. Medication may be prescribed and monitored by regular visits with the physician throughout the course of Outpatient Treatment. Compliance with Outpatient Treatment reccomendation is required to participate in this program
Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
The Adult IOP Program is designed for individuals who need treatment for the disease of chemical dependency/alcoholism and do not require the structure or medical care of an inpatient treatment setting. This program is appropriate for those completing an inpatient program with an aftercare referral for intensive outpatient treatment. The intent of this service is to keep people at home if it is supportive and maintain their employment while recieving outpatient treatment that is intensive. It also allows those in treatment to set up a support system in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and/or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
Fees and Payment
All incoming clients will be set up with a sliding scale fee (even those with insurance and Medicaid).

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
