Services Offered
Youth Services
Outpatient services are offered to the youth in our communities. MCBH provides treatment and care for behavioral and emotional needs of children, transition age youth (TAY), and families. The services include mental health assessment, group and individual therapy, family therapy, and case management. If indicated, psychiatric evaluation and medication management is available. We also provide referrals to community support providers.

Foster Care Treatment Team Services
The Foster Care Treatment Team provides screening and assessment for youth detained and placed out of home by the Modoc County Department of Social Services and Probation. Youth who are screened will be provided with age appropriate information about trauma and coping skills. Individuals who have underlying behavioral health issues will receive appropriate treatment services.

Adult Services
Adult Outpatient Centers provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to individuals requiring mental health, substance use disorder or dual diagnosis treatment. The outpatient treatment team consists of trained professionals including licensed therapists, behavioral health nurses, telepsychiatry, counselors, case managers and support staff. Focus areas include mental health and substance abuse assessment, psychiatric assessment and evaluation for medication, medication monitoring, individual counseling, group counseling, bilingual counseling services, interpreter services, and community services referral.

Sunrays is a government contractor, providing partnership services to Modoc County Behavioral Health. The Wellness and Recovery Center- Sunrays of Hope is a consumer driven and emphasize recovery oriented activities including peer support, socialization opportunities, life skill groups and reintegration into the community activities.

Outpatient Counseling
Outpatient Centers provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to individuals facing substance use challenges. Treatment includes individual and group counseling. Referrals to community resources are also provided.
Perinatal Treatment Program
Healthy Beginings (Perinatal Program) in collaboration with Modoc County Department of Social Services, Modoc County Public Health, and Modoc County Behavioral Health is an outpatient program that provides home vising by a public health nurse. Families are provided with health educations, parenting education, screening for substance use and mental health disorder treatment to women who are pregnant or parenting children.
Treatment Court Services and Community Corrections Partnership
Adult Drug Court, in collaboration with the law enforcement and the court, provides access and treatment to felony offenders who have substance disorders. This is a voluntary program providing structure by linking supports and treatment with ongoing judicial oversight, probation supervision, and team management. BCDBH provides assessments, group and individual treatment, and referrals to residential treatment as appropriate
Medication Assisted Treatment
MCBH in collaboration with Modoc Medication Center have a MAT program. This program uses medication (Suboxone) coupled with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a whole person approach to the treatment of substance use disorders related to central nervous system depressants (opioids, alcohol).
CALWORKS
The California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWorks), in partnership with Modoc County Department of Social Services, provides individuals and families with counseling and treatment services for mental health or substance abuse issues that would hinder their ability to enter the workforce.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
