At Nottingham Counselling Service we believe that good mental wellbeing should not be restricted by circumstance or background.
We promote emotional health and wellbeing through inclusive and accessible counselling at a cost that reflects the economic circumstance of the client.
We provide an excellent environment for counsellors too, providing placements to those working towards their qualifications and volunteering opportunities to qualified and experienced practitioners who want to give back to the community.

We provide a professional and discreet couples counselling service to those who are seeking such support. If you and your partner decide that this service is appropriate for you, our specialist providers can help you to: - improve communication - overcome stresses, anxieties, and depression - resolve relationship difficulties

Group Therapy
Group therapy is an alternative to individual therapy which provides you with a safe and consistent space in which to explore yourself and connect with other people.
Recognising that our experiences and feelings develop socially, group therapy offers a safe space in which to explore your difficulties with others, gaining wider perspectives and discovering new possibilities for old problems. Group therapy offers the scope to develop deep insights, with the aim of feeling more whole.
Fees and Payment
As a charity, we do ask clients to pay a contribution towards the cost of running the organisation and counselling services. This takes the form of a weekly payment each time you attend your weekly counselling session and this enables us to keep Nottingham Counselling Service running and to continue serving the community.
The level of contribution toward the service is designed to take account of your household income and personal circumstances. The level of contribution you will make will be decided with you at the initial assessment or when you start having ongoing sessions.
Services Offered To: Adults Couples Teens Children
Payment: Sliding Scale Pro-bono
If You Call, Please Let Us Know How it Went:
Were You Able to Make an Appointment?
One quick last question. Who was seeking counseling today?
Do you know the reason they are not accepting clients?
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
