Services Offered
Young People Counselling
We see young people who are going through problems which they might be struggling to manage. Sometimes these problems can have a negative impact on you and your life.
When we first meet you, we will spend time getting to know you and hearing about the difficulties you are facing.
This may mean being seen for a few sessions only, or a longer time; sometimes we will recommend another service that we feel is better suited to helping you and we will discuss this with you.
Adult Talk Therapy
We'll work closely with you and your GP to decide what therapy is likely to be most helpful for you.
One of our therapists will work with you, listening to what you say - and don't say - about your experiences.
Our therapists are highly qualified and come from a variety of different disciplines (clinical psychology, medicine, nursing and social work). They have all received further specialist training, often in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
This type of therapy allows you to talk about your difficulties and share your struggles in a safe place. You'll explore with the therapist how your issues link with the rest of your life.
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is not a treatment you are prescribed or given: you play an active part in it.
Family mental health
We support the emotional health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families.
Our team provides child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) to children up to the age of 18 and their families, who live outside of Camden.
We assess and treat a wide range of emotional and behavioural problems including: - depression - self harm - anxiety - trauma - school problems - eating - sleeping - toileting issues
We also work with difficulties in parenting.
We are experienced in working with complex issues, for example with families where courts or other agencies are involved. We aim to ensure that all of the agencies around the child work together.

One quick last question. Who was seeking counseling today?
Do you know the reason they are not accepting clients?
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
