Haldimand-Norfolk REACH is a multi-service agency, providing children's mental health services, developmental services, Autism services, youth justice services, family services, a residential program for transitional-aged youth and several early learning and care services including EarlyON Child and Family Centres and Community Action Program for Children. REACH serves as the Lead Agency for Haldimand Norfolk Children's Mental Health Services and the Student Nutrition Program in the Hamilton/Niagara Region.
REACH is recognized as a local leader in community education, advocacy, inter-sector collaboration and Community Service Planning.

Services Offered
Children/Youth & Families * Counselling for Children and Youth - The Child Counselling Services Program provides counselling or "therapy" to children, youth and their families. Therapists are experienced in assisting people to talk (or play) about their life situations.
* Intensive In Home Intervention - Intensive therapeutic services are delivered in the home, school and/or community. This service is for children and youth who are experiencing significant social, emotional, and/or behavioural difficulties that make it hard for them to manage in their home, school and/or community and other less intensive supports are not enough to help with the problem.
* Groups for Children, Youth & Families - REACH offers group programs for children, youth and their families on an as needed basis. Groups help children and youth who are working through common problems to find solutions and build support with others.
> Temper Tamers (7-11) - This group is for children who have some difficulties "taming" their temper. The group operates each week for 8 weeks and provides group members with the opportunity to learn and practice new skills to express their feelings and tame their temper. > Choices - Choices is an interactive group program for youth, age 12-17, that focuses on problem solving, decision making, values, self-confidence, communication skills, conflict resolution and assertiveness. The program is designed to assist young people to clarify their own values and in making pro-social choices.
Adults * Adult and Family Counselling - The Adult and Family Counselling Program provides professional, caring and confidential therapy to individuals, couples and families. Therapists are experienced at helping people work through issues in a timely manner, using an approach that focuses on solutions. Assistance is available for issues such as anger, anxiety, depression, grief, conflict, separation/divorce, self-esteem, sexual issues and domestic violence.
* Couple Counselling - The Family Services Counselling Program provides professional, caring and confidential therapy to couples who want to improve their relationship. Therapists are experienced at helping couples work through issues in a timely manner, using an approach that focuses on solutions and is respectful of both parties.
Fees and Payment
The fee is assessed, based on income and is between $0 and $80.00 per hour. Children and Youth services are free of charge.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
