We can help you with: Depression
The treatment of depression is highly individualised and unique to each client and may involve a joint approach of medication and therapy. An assessment is essential to establish the level of depression and the specific methods of treatment.
Anger
Anger is a basic emotion which is typical felt and expressed by us all, but when anger is not regulated it can become uncontrollable and holds the potential to do a great deal of harm. Unhealthy expressions of anger can lead to a host of social, relationship and professional issues for the individual who is angry and those around them. People who fail to process their anger effectively are often hypercritical of others, controlling and express hostile behaviour.
Social Anxiety
Social anxiety is one of the most common disorders of its type. When faced with social gatherings or interactions the sufferer my feel judged, embarrassed or inferior. The strength of the feelings attached to social anxiety can prevent the sufferer from engaging socially and causes them to be avoidant of social situations. This can impact on the sufferer's social and professional life, as well as their life at home with their family and if left untreated it can develop into depression.
Bereavement
Bereavement is the time we spend adjusting to the loss of someone special after they die. There is no right or wrong way to feel during bereavement and everyone deals with loss differently in order to cope in their own way. Talking about loss is an important stage of the grieving process and helps a person to acknowledge, accept and understand the loss.
Drug Abuse
There are many different forms of drug taking and many different reasons for taking them. If drugs are taken on a regular basis it can quickly lead to an abuse or addiction. The spiral from casual use to addiction varies, but when the dependency starts interfering with everyday life, such as health, relationships and work; a cycle of addiction is present. At Empathy Rooms we understanding that drug addiction is individual for every client and we work with clients in discovering new ways of coping with their cravings.
Alcoholism
The repeated use of alcohol can quickly become a dependency where the sufferer is unable to control their compulsion to drink. If left untreated, alcoholism can lead to extensive bodily damage and disease. When you acknowledge that you have drinking problem, you're on the first stage of recovery. CBT Therapy will then help to make sense of the underlying feelings and thought processes which caused the addiction.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
