Working with the funding allocated by Government, Counties Manukau Health is responsible for: * Collaborating with other DHBs, service providers, the community and other stakeholders to plan the strategic direction for health and disability services in the northern region and promote the integration of health services * Funding the provision of most health and disability services provided in Counties Manukau through service contracts with health and disability providers and non-governmental organisations * Providing hospital based services for the population of Counties Manukau and some access to specialist or highly complex services for people who are referred from other DHBs * Promoting, protecting and improving the health of the Counties Manukau population through the provision of health promotion, health education and evidence based public health initiatives.

Adult Acute Inpatient Service (Tiaho Mai) At Tiaho Mai we provide 24 hour mental health assessment and treatment services for people with serious or complicated mental health concerns. We provide a safe environment where people can stay for short periods of time. Our goal is to help people reach a point where they can safely access other mental health services.
Koropiko Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) Koropiko Mental Health Services for Older People are skilled in looking after the mental health needs people aged 65 years of age or over.
We provide mental health services and support to people aged 65 and over. We see people with a range of mental health concerns, as well as medical conditions that affect their emotional wellbeing.
Adult Community Mental Services We support people with serious and enduring mental health and addiction issues that have a significant impact on their lives.
People from many cultures and backgrounds may have mental health concerns, our role is to provide you with the help and support that works for you, helping you live a happy, fulfilling life.
Taunaki and Te Puawaitanga (Child and Adolesecent Mental Health) We help children, young people and their families/whaanau experiencing significant behavioural concerns, psychological concerns and emotional distress, when these concerns can no longer be managed by the services within their community. We support young people and families with significant concerns that require urgent help, and will assist potential service users to access treatment or support from other providers if needed.
We offer young people and their families supports tailored to their needs. Care plans may include: * Individual Therapy * Family Therapy * Play Therapy * Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) * Therapeutic Story Telling Intervention * Dialectical Behaviour Therapy * Sensory Modulation * Group Therapy * Support for Families and Whaanau * Medication
Infant Mental health (Whakatupu Ora) At Whakatupu Ora we help infants and toddlers with social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. We do this by supporting the relationship between caregivers and their child. We can help with difficulties caregivers might have in feeling close to their baby or toddler. We also help parents and pregnant women who have complicated feelings about their child. They may include anger, sadness, worries and difficulties feeling close to their baby. We offer a number of supports and treatments for children and families, including: * Assessments * Group therapy with caregivers/whaanau * Parent-child therapy * Behavioural therapy * Developmental guidance * Parenting advice * Emotional support for caregivers/whaanau * Practical assistance with day-to-day needs * Co-ordination of care with other services * Medication
Asian Mental Health & Addiction Service Asian people can come from a number of cultural backgrounds and may be descended from a wide variety of counties in East Asia (such as China, Japan, and Korea), Southeast Asia (such as Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos) and Central Asia (such as India and Afghanistan). We provide information and advice for people from Asian backgrounds who are concerned about mental health.
Some of the programmes we run include: * Together Little Angels Soar - workshop and support group for Chinese families who have children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
* Together We Recover - workshop and support group for Chinese families who have adults with mental health issues
* Asian Plus+ - activity group for Asian mental health services users
* Enriching Lives - collaborative programme for people with mental health and substance use and/or justice concerns, provided in partnership with police and a variety of community services
* Annual community mental health initiatives for Chinese, South Asian, Filipino, Korean and Japanese communities
* The 'Long Game' groups - interagency groups who promote and advocate the mental health needs of Chinese, South Asian, Filipino, Korean and Japanese communities
* Asian Mental Health & Addictions Staff Forum - where Asian mental health and addiction staff and students network and support each other Placements for students with an interest in Asian mental health.
Dual Disability Team Regional The Regional Dual Disability Mental Health Service provides support for people with intellectual disability who also have significant mental health concerns. We serve people across the Auckland and Northland regions. We also provide support and advice for some of the families/whaanau, carers and professionals who support this community. We offer a range of support and treatments for those with significant mental illness and intellectual disability, including: * Support for person with disability and carers * Talking therapies * Assessments * Education for whaanau, carers and other mental health staff
Intensive Community Team (ICT) The Counties Manukau Health Intensive Community Team (ICT) are a specialist mental health service. We provide support for people with complex mental health concerns. Our goal is to promote recovery for all mental health services users. As many of the people we see have more than one mental health concern, or are experiencing other challenges in their lives, we offer a wide range of support and treatments. Some of our most frequent supports include: * Talking therapy * Medication * Support to help service users improve their health or lifestyle * Information and education * Collaboration with other services * Help with any work, family or social issues the service user might be experiencing.
Tamaki Oranga Mental health Our service is open to men from throughout the Auckland region, including Counties Manukau, Auckland and Waitemata DHBs. Most of the men we see have severe mental health problems that have not responded to previous mental health support.
Along with mental health issues you may be experiencing other issues that impact on your health and wellbeing, including drug and alcohol issues, intellectual disability and housing issues. Our role is to support you to manage these and any other issues that may impact on your mental health.
After completing our assessments we may offer you a number of supports and treatments. These may include: * Therapy * Medication * Coordinating with other mental health services * Support for you and your family
Fees and Payment
We have a publicly funded healthcare system for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents. The Government requires that all patients prove they are eligible to receive publicly funded healthcare and that we gather proof of eligibility status from each patient we see. In the case of an emergency this will be done as soon as possible after care. If you are not eligible for publicly funded healthcare you will be charged for your care.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
