Services Offered
Emotional Support
At the Olive Tree we offer a range of emotional support services including 1-2-1 sessions with qualified practitioners as well as monthly support groups. 1-2-1 sessions must be booked via the Centre Manager or appointed volunteer and we ask all members to let the centre know as soon as possible if they need to cancel an appointment. There is no need to book if you wish to attend a support group.
Therapeutic Art
Therapeutic Art is a complementary therapy that offers a creative route to strengthen and support our inherent health forces, even when these have been severely displaced by illness. All sessions at the Olive Tree are delivered on a 1:1 basis with a practising therapist.
Coaching
Coaching is a way of supporting you, in a non-judgmental and confidential environment. It helps you to think about the difficulties you are experiencing with a view to finding your own answers. Our coaches will ask the right questions to help you see and do things in new and different ways. This will enable you to rebuild your self-confidence, take back control of your life and make different and better choices in the future.
Counselling
Counselling is about helping you to think things through for yourself to find your own answers. It is not always an easy process, as it may mean discussing things you feel uncomfortable about; but it can also be a relief to air these feelings, thoughts and ideas with someone who listens, does not judge and respects your confidentiality.
EFT (Tapping)
EFT is a simple and effective therapeutic tool, sometimes known as "emotional acupuncture". EFT has been described as a kind of psychological acupressure, acupuncture without needles. It involves focusing on the memory while tapping on specific points on the meridians. Properly applied, EFT quickly realigns the energy system with respect to negative memories, disconnects the physical discomfort that we attached to them, and quite often removes the resulting symptoms.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a therapy delivered through the medium of hypnotic trance. Hypnosis is a natural phenomenon which combines strong focus with guided imagery and relaxation. The therapy delivered at the Olive Tree is a mix of hypnosis with solution focused therapy. This type of therapy looks at helping with current issues, rather than routing around in the past for what may have caused them.

One quick last question. Who was seeking counseling today?
Do you know the reason they are not accepting clients?
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
