The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Centre of Excellence at Al Jalila Children’s is the first of its kind in the region. Our highly specialised multidisciplinary centre is dedicated to providing comprehensive assessment and management of a wide variety of mental health issues in children and adolescents, in addition to providing support to their families. The Mental Health Centre of Excellence spearheads and supports advanced inter-departmental research, training, and teaching for future mental health professionals from different backgrounds.
Through its highly skilled and experienced professionals, it offers specialised evidence based assessment, diagnoses, management, and treatment of a spectrum of mental disorders for children and adolescents between the ages of 0-18 years. The Centre also aims to set the benchmark for research and education in the region with the objective of pushing the boundaries of mental health treatments and intervention procedures, leading the way to better public awareness and knowledge of how to deal with mental illness in children and teenagers.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Psychology Service provides psychological assessment of children with developmental and psychiatric disorders by providing psychotherapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Compassionate Therapy, Behavioural Therapy, Applied Behavioural Analysis, and Systemic Family Therapy for patients and families. Care is provided to patients up to the age of 18. The aim is to ensure those patients who attend psychotherapy receive care which is effective, efficient, evidence based, person centered and will promote positive outcomes for children and families.

Al Jalila Children’s is a Dubai government owned hospital, and offers care to all holders of health insurance from most health insurance providers in the United Arab Emirates.
- All Emirati children without insurance coverage will be treated for free during Covid-19, while insured children will enjoy the waiver of co-payment charges.

Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
