Services Offered
Communication Coaching - The single most common reason couple contact us is a failure in communication. It is in this area that having a specialist trained couples therapist really pays off. Our team can coach you to avoid behaviours that have been proved in multiple research studies to predict divorce - and more importantly teach you tools to help you reconnect with that loving open communication that most couples start off with. Any member of our team can help you with this - simply choose someone who feels like a good fit.
Relationship Rescue - In a perfect world couples experiencing distress would quickly seek counselling help. In the real world couples wait on average 6 years before first seeking help. What this can mean is that one partner is already prepared to leave or has left. In this scenario speed and precision is critical. Relationship Rescue gives you a longer first session so assessment and some emergency connection work can happen in the first session.
Affair Recovery - An affair can be a huge traumatic loss and betrayal that can overwhelm a couples desire to cope, connect and communicate. Our team has some affair specialists who have years of experience guiding couples through this very common but difficult process. A couple of significant differences we offer is the capacity to typically see you within a 48 hour time frame. If this is a very fresh discovery expect to see us a couple of times a week in the first few weeks. Organising the time off work and or child care is a important and necessary investment in your own mental health.
Break-Up Recovery - Breaking up can be incredibly painful experience. Particularly if it was unexpected or you had been working really hard to help the relationship survive. It can be a very useful act of self care to book a time with a counselor to talk through recovery process. There are some very practical things that can be done that will help you recover an awful lot faster. Additionally this is a time when you can uncover important insights that can help you in future relationships.
Individual Relationship Counselling - Individual relationship counselling can be used for a variety of reasons including a partner who is unable or unwilling to attend counselling; someone who has been single for a long time or in a series of destructive, unhappy relationships, or it might be used alongside couples therapy, or to deal with past trauma issues. It can be useful to get a therapist of the opposite gender to talk through relating to the opposite sex.
Sex and Intimacy Coaching - When sex and intimacy are working well they can be a real source of connection and joy in a relationship. Yet like many precious things they can be damaged by misuse, neglect and loss. This is an area our team is really passionate about working with because of it's centrality to connection in relationships. The loss of erotic connection is a long standing issue that unfortunately many couples have just come to expect or endure. Yet our erotic connection is one of the primary connectors and sources of renewal in a relationships. Marriages and relationships can survive without erotic connection but they are very seldom better as a result.
Relationship Intensives and Marathon Therapy - Relationship Intensives cram a month of sessions into a one day session - to fast track the healing connection process - often used for clients starting therapy in a lot of distress, or simply eager to get things underway faster. Marathon Therapy takes 2-5 days to focus on resolving a key specified issue for a couple - often used for couples dealing with affairs.
New Relationship Counselling - Preparing for Success - In the West we have been fed a lot of false, unhelpful and occasionally quite toxic ideas and practices around relationships. These set us up for a series of relationship traps that needlessly cause us and our partners pain and suffering. Learning some quite simple skills can help us create more lasting, satisfying and stable relationships.
Dealing with Depression/Anxiety and Loss - Pain is inevitable in every relationship. We all experience loss at some point. The resulting grief can draw couples and families together as they support each other through the grief journey. Sometimes though the grief or loss is so overwhelming that couples or individuals need help to find a way through the pain. It is also common where the grief is extreme that differing emotional coping styles can actually intensify the pain. In this case having the support of an experienced therapist can help you use the strengths of the relationship to get you back on the right path.

If You Call, Please Let Us Know How it Went:
Were You Able to Make an Appointment?
One quick last question. Who was seeking counseling today?
Do you know the reason they are not accepting clients?
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
