Our work is directed towards supporting people who are impacted by interpersonal violence (whether currently or in the past). We aim to empower people to choose safe and respectful ways of living and relating.

Services Offered
COUNSELLING FOR WOMEN Counselling is available to women currently living in abusive relationships as well as to women who have been in past abusive relationships and are continuing to experience trauma associated with those relationships. Between 6-10 sessions are provided by our female counsellors who have a solid understanding of the dynamics of control and violence in relationships.
COUNSELLING FOR MEN We provide free short term counselling (between 1-10 sessions) to men who are currently being abused in their relationship. Counselling is provided by a male counsellor who has solid insights into the difficulties experienced by men who are subjected to violence.
We can support male victims in developing a safety plan and, where required, we can also them to accessing assistance in relation to obtaining a protection order.
SUPPORT FOR COUPLES We are able to provide our Growing Together short term couples counselling programme (six free one hour sessions) for couples who are keen to strengthen their relationship, explore underlying issues which impact upon their ability to relate safely and comfortably with each or rebuild after one or both partners have lost faith or trust in the other.
For couples who wish to continue beyond the six free sessions, we offer access to our couples' counsellors at a low fee for each additional session.
COUNSELLING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE We receive a very small amount of funding to provide limited free counselling support to people aged 14-17 years old (we'd love to provide more - find out how you can help by click here). Our counselling for young people is prioritised for those who are exhibiting behaviours which put them at risk of becoming potential offenders of family violence, who are engaging in family violence or have been seriously impacted by violence in their home or family unit.
From time to time is may be possible for a parent or caregiver to arrange counselling for a young person outside of these limitations, subject to payment of an hourly session fee.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
