WWG was founded by five Brisbane health workers, who worked in various not for profit and public sector professional roles in multicultural health and mental health for the past 30 years.  As a result of multicultural health programs invariably being de-funded due to changes in policy and funding priorities despite positive evaluation results, the founders implemented a vision of an independent health social enterprise, that could deliver services and work on fixing systems that create disadvantage in the first place.
At the World Wellness Clinic we care about your physical and mental health. We also care about your language, culture and spirituality.
Our experienced health professionals are passionate about providing high quality and culturally safe and appropriate health care and take a team approach to your health and wellbeing.
Our services are open to clients from throughout Brisbane, regardless of location. Some services are also provided in outreach locations. The Multicultural Connect Line is state-wide.

Services Offered
People from multicultural backgrounds with complex mental health needs often fall through the gaps of health sevice provision by encountering cultural, economic, or social barriers to accessing health services. They are often further disadvantaged when their support and care needs increase because they cannot access the services they need.
Our Mental Health Service provides a well-planned stepped care service that may use any of the programs below. It is an evidence-based service, using a rigorous intake and triage system. This means that after we assess your needs, we match the level of intensity of our support to your unique needs.
Culture In Mind This program is for people with more complex mental health issues who also need practical supports. It provides emotional and social support as well as support with your goals and recovery, social connections and issues that affect your mental health and wellbeing.
Multicultural Psychological Therapies Program This is a program that connects you with a mental health professional to provide you with psychological treatment. It is for people with mild to moderate mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. With your consent, we can also link you with a peer support worker from your cultural background (if available) to help support you, speak your language and explain the process and treatment to you and help explain your culture to the mental health professional.
Problem Management Plus Provides coping strategies such as managing stress, managing problems and strengthening social supports & well-being. Builds your capacity to manage your own emotional distress and if possible, reduce practical problems. A structured therapeutic intervention for adults from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who are experiencing mood or anxiety disorders, stress and a range of psychological stressors, particularly in situations of adversity.
We honour and respect your culture, language and spirituality.
We understand that you may prefer to speak in your language and will organise to speak with you either with an interpreter or one of our Multicultural Peer Support Workers who come from over 50 different cultural backgrounds and speak more than 60 languages.
Many of our accredited mental health practitioners are also from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

One quick last question. Who was seeking counseling today?
Do you know the reason they are not accepting clients?
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
