Julie Aganoff set up Change Futures in 2014 as a registered charity and not for profit psychology practice. Julie has 40 years experience in the community and not for profit sector, so this was a natural progression from working for other organisations to establishing a new organisation. The intent was to enable access to quality mental health services for vulnerable and marginalised clients.

Access is a key issue, and most of the work undertaken by Change Futures is delivered as outreach, either in residential aged care facilities, community centres or in people’s homes. The establishment of Change Futures also offered an opportunity to provide internships for new psychology graduates to enable them to achieve full registration.

Julie has been training and supervising psychologists for 25 years, including managing an internship program for nearly 20 years.

Through our individual and group programs, we can help you become present in your own life and create a different future by creating a different today.

We offer psychological counselling for a range of mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, adjustment and trauma based disorders, as well as for issues such as relationship challenges, grief and loss, parenting and personality difficulties. These services are for all ages from pre school to older people.

Our staff use approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), expressive therapies, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, Schema Therapy, Ego State Therapy, EMDR, and Rogerian therapy.

These services are available at our counselling rooms at Gordon Park, at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast and in various locations on the Sunshine Coast. Sessions can also be held using telehealth options such as video and telephone for people from any location.

We are also able to deliver a range of group programs, from personal support groups, domestic and family violence, bereaved by suicide groups parenting groups, relationship development, recovery from childhood sexual abuse groups, depression and anxiety groups. These groups are delivered on demand from clients.

Fees and Payment

All of our services are affordable and accessible. If you have a Health Care Card and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP there will be no out of pocket expense for counselling.
