Danila Dilba Health Service is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation providing culturally-appropriate, comprehensive primary health care and community services to Biluru (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) people in the Yilli Rreung (greater Darwin) region of the Northern Territory.
DDHS has seven clinics in the region catering to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population.
Healthcare services provided by DDHS are focused on acute care, immunisation, chronic disease management, women’s health, men’s health, child and maternal health, sexual health and social emotional wellbeing.
DDHS also provides a range of community programs in areas including health promotion, mental health/social and emotional wellbeing, and alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

Danila Dilba has a wide range of services supporting the Social and Emotional Wellbeing of our clients. Below is an overview of all of these services and what they have to offer.
Stolen Generation Support Services - The Bringing Them Home program provides counselling to Indigenous people of the greater Darwin region, focusing on improving their social and emotional wellbeing, particularly in relation to the Stolen Generations and inter-generational impact of government policies.
Counselling and group services - As well as clinic-based counseling services, the Social Emotional Wellbeing Seniors Group has been successful in advocating, providing safe space for seniors from the Stolen Generation to reflect and participate in therapeutic activities during group sessions.
Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs - Our Mental Health/Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) service, provides support, advocacy and therapeutic interventions to individuals whose AOD use is affecting their mental health and wellbeing. This program employs two therapeutic workers and two Indigenous Support Workers. This program is funded by the NT Primary Health Network (NT PHN).
National Redress Scheme - The National Redress Scheme was set up to hold institutions accountable for people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse. Â
The National Redress Scheme can help you get access to three things: -counselling -a payment a direct personal response from an institution (e.g. an apology).Â

Services Offered To: Adults Couples Teens Children
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
