Individual Counselling Individual counselling is also known as therapy or psychotherapy. It allows an individual to explore personal issues in a safe and confidential environment. Individual counselling is helpful for people who are going through life transitions or life difficulties, which are outside of their usual experiences and may be difficult to cope with on their own.
Individual counselling can be helpful for those who are suffering from: * Depression, Anxiety and Social Anxiety * Self-Esteem Issues and unmet potential * Trauma or abuse - physical, mental, verbal or sexual (historical or present) * Life Transitions (Divorce, separation, school, retirement, job loss, new parent) * Car accident and ICBC Claims * Victim of crime * Communication, Relationship Conflicts or Relationship Addiction * Eating Disorders and Body Image Issues * Grief, Loss or Anger * Loneliness and Isolation * Addiction and/or Compulsive Sexual Behaviour * Personality Conflicts * Career transition
Couples Counselling Couples counselling is also called marriage counselling or couples therapy. Couples come to therapy to enhance their relationship in some way. It may be that they need to explore intimacy and closeness. Or they need to find ways to bring romance back into their life or realign their goals and values. Usually a couple will find themselves in therapy when they have been unable to resolve an issue on their own. Or when they find themselves having conflict that escalates rather than finding resolve.
Couples counselling may address some of the following concerns: * Intimacy and sexuality * Communication * Past hurts and forgiveness * Family of origin issues that have impact on present relationship * Anger * Co-parenting * Control * Loneliness * Issues around same sex marriage * Relationship addiction or codependency * Recurring conflict * Mental, emotional, physical or sexual abuse * Compulsive sexual behaviours * Unhealthy patterns and roles
Family Counselling Family counselling also called family therapy is focused more on the family and issues arising from within the family system. This therapy is designed to help families learn new ways of communicating more effectively which will enhance and strengthen their closeness.
Family Counselling may address some of the following: * Conflict * Communication * Forgiveness * Anger * Control * Grief & Loss * Emotional Unavailability

Individual Counselling $125 per session Couples Counselling $150 per session Family Counselling $150 per session
We are proud to offer a sliding scale fee to ensure that our services are accessible to low income families and individuals. However, our Counsellors only have a limited number of sliding scale spots available. This scale is based on your gross family monthly income (before taxes). This helps to ensure that your fee is proportionate to your income.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
