In 2020, Aisling Discoveries Child and Family Centre and East Metro Youth Services amalgamated to form Strides Toronto, a multi-service agency addressing the needs of children, youth, their parents and families. We are located in east Toronto and our services are predominately provided in the communities of East York.
Strides Toronto provides a wide range of exceptional programs and services to help our clients and their families to achieve their personal best. Our agency supports clients from the pre-natal stage to age 29 and their families. Our work helps to strengthen their social and emotional well-being, move forward through adversity and develop their abilities and skills to reach their full potential.
Counselling & Walk-In Services
* Community Counselling (CC) - The goal of CC is to provide family-focused, time-limited service (up to 6 months), that strives to strengthen the ability of children and youth to function effectively in their home, school and/or community as well as address their mental health and addiction issues.
* what's up walk-in (Scarborough) - The 'what's up' walk-in Clinic is Toronto's only free, six day a week mental health counselling walk- in service for children, youth, young adults, and families. The clinic helps with issues such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, sexual identity matters, bullying, behavioural concerns, addictions, and anything else that might be on one's mind. The clinic is barrier free, and accessible. No health card or appointment is necessary.
* YouthCan Impact Walk-In (Danforth) - YouthCan IMPACT is a collaborative initiative of youth, families, community agencies, hospitals and primary care partners, who work together to improve the youth mental health and addiction system. Our YouthCan Impact Walk-In clinic offers full-service mental health walk- in counselling for children, youth, young adults, and families. A range of services are offered, including brief solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills groups, care navigation, peer support, family/caregiver interventions and onsite access to psychiatric services.
Gender-Based Violence & Domestic Human Trafficking
* Services For Survivors Of Domestic Human Trafficking - Our unique programming provides support for youth who have been involved in the sex trade, by connecting them with services specially catered to meet their needs. Our client-centred program is grounded in the treatment of trauma, relational therapy and addressing human rights. As well, our program provides education on internet exploitation and cyber sexual violence, helping young people to navigate the internet safely.
* Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Counselling Program - ICE is a fee-for-service program, in partnership with BOOST and the OPP that provides funding for short-term (8 -12 sessions) immediate counselling services for children and youth who are victims of internet sexual exploitation and to their immediate family members.
School-Based Programs
* Priority Access for Schools (PAS) Program - The Priority Access for Schools (PAS) program provides individual and family counselling and case management support to youth who are referred from the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB).
Services are free. This is a registered charity.
