The Canadian Mental Health Association is a national organization that promotes the mental health of all and supports the recovery of individuals experiencing mental illness. CMHA Niagara Branch is one of a network of over 135 branches that offer mental health services in communities across Canada. It was formed in of 2001, as an amalgamation of CMHA St. Catharines and District Branch and CMHA Niagara South Branch.

Case Management Individuals with serious mental illness are offered a supportive framework in order to achieve greater independence and an improved quality of life. Our highly skilled Case Managers work in partnership with individuals to identify areas of strength and determine areas of need.
Our Case Management program offers one-on-one support and encouragement to those with serious mental illness. Whether your goal is to maintain a good quality of life, live independently, improve housing, budgeting, mental and physical wellness or learn new skills, our Case Managers work closely with you to help you set and meet your goals in the community.
Immediate Services, Crisis Beds & Counselling * Walk-In Counselling - It is a therapeutic service that enables individuals to see CMHA counsellors at their decided moment of need.
The intention is to create opportunities for immediate problem solving and therapeutic conversation, as well as connectedness to other CMHA services if required.
* Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team - Offers a "First Response" of Mental Health Workers riding with police responding to 9-1-1 calls related to mental health.

Group Counselling We offer group counselling focused on life skills, illness management and recovery, behaviour therapy, anxiety, depression, substance use, and suicide. Referrals required.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
