Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions / Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (CDBC/FASD) Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions (CDBC) is a term used to describe significant difficulties that may affect an individual in multiple areas of functioning. These include learning, development, mental health, adaptive behaviour and social skills. An example of a CDBC is Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). FASD is the term used to describe the range of effects caused by drinking alcohol during pregnancy. Families face many challenges trying to meet the needs of a child with CDBC or FASD.
Men, Anger and the Family The group will meet once a week for 9 consecutive weeks and will be facilitated by a male counsellor. The sessions will consist of integrated psycho-education and group conversation, as well as videos and group exercises. This group is designed for any man who is or has been physically or verbally abusive to his partner and/or children.
My Tween and Me This 6-week, 12 hour group is for parents of children between the ages 7-12. The parents meet to refine and develop their parenting and communication skills needed to help prevent drug use/misuse by their children. Topics include how pre-teens are changing physically and emotionally, communicating with pre-teens, encouraging self-esteem, teaching good decision making skills and discipline.
Stressed Teens Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction for Teens program will help teens 13-18 years of age learn simple, yet effective mindfulness to intentionally focus awareness practices. In this eight week class you will use the techniques of mindfulness to intentionally focus awareness and observation of your emotions and behavaiours from moment to moment. You will develop a set of tools you can use in stressful situations, larn mediation. improve concentration and creativity, learn emotianal regulation techniques, and take time out for you improve concentration and creativity, learn emotional regulation techniques, and take time out for you without feeling selfish.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
