Services Offered
Concurrent Disorders (Mental Health and Substance Use) Our Concurrent Disorders Program provides training and advice for other services in Peel Region that help teenagers and young adults who have mental health difficulties and use drugs or alcohol.
We can also help your teenager if he or she has mental health difficulties and uses drugs or alcohol.
Counselling Services Is your child having problems getting along with others or controlling his or her feelings at home, in school, or in the community? Our Counselling Services may be able to help.
We offer single counselling sessions or a series of counselling sessions to help you. You can have counselling as a family or in groups.
Day Treatment Is your child dealing with many mental health problems? Are these problems likely to cause your child to lose his or her place at school? Our Day Treatment Program may be able to help.
We will teach your child how to deal with his or her feelings and other people. We also help your child with school work.
ICF (ages 7-17) If your child has serious mental health problems, our Intensive Child and Family Service (Ages 7-17) can help.
We will treat your child in your home, school, or community at a time that is best for you. Our treatment will help you make the most of your child's and family's strengths. * You and your child may have counselling. * We may give you advice about parenting your child. * You and your child may talk to a psychiatrist or psychologist. These people are specially trained to assess problems with behaviour and feelings caused by illness or difficult situations.
Psychiatric Services When your child comes to our programs at Peel Children's Centre, he or she may get help from our Psychiatric Services.
Your child can use our Psychiatric Services if any of the treatment programs or services at our Centre asks for help from a psychiatrist.
Psychological Services When your child comes to our programs at Peel Children's Centre, he or she may get help from our Psychological Services.
Your child can use our Psychological Services if any of the treatment programs or services at our Centre asks for help from a psychologist.
Sexual Abuse Treatment We will talk with you and your child about your treatment needs and how our services can help. You and your child may be asked to fill out some forms.
Our professional staff will work with you as a team to make a treatment plan. We will offer counselling for your child. We may also offer counselling for your family, or counselling as part of a group.
Tangerine Walk-In Counselling Is your child feeling sad, worried or angry? Or is your child finding it hard to cope with stress, control his/her behaviour, or get along with others? Would your child and/or family like to talk with a counsellor without making an appointment? Then Tangerine Walk-In Counselling may be able to help you.
A counsellor will ask you and/or your child about the problem you want to discuss and any ways you have tried to solve the problem. Then the counsellor will help you and/or your child identify his/her strengths and the resources that are available to support your child and family. The counsellor will help you and/or your child figure out possible solutions to the problem.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
