Services Offered
Counselling / Treatment Mental Health Counselling is available for individuals 16 years of age and older who experience emotional distress and psychological symptoms. Counselling is also available for family members who support an individual facing a mental health issue. Individual, and when clinically appropriate, marital and family sessions are available.
Frequent reasons leading people to seek counselling: * Past or present trauma * Depression * Anxiety * Suicidal ideation and self-harm * Intense reaction to a loss * Intense or chronic stressor
Case Management Case Management Services are available for individuals 16 years of age and older who have more persistent or severe mental health symptoms, and who require more support with their day-to-day activities, or require support in a number of areas of their lives such as housing, finances or physical health.
Community Support Program The Community Support Program is available for individuals 16 years of age and older who experience a persistent mental illness and who need a more structured environment to acquire necessary interpersonal , social and daily living skills to live a satisfying life in the community. The program is offered in a group setting.
The program is particularly suitable for individuals who have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, chronic depression, concurrent disorder (mental illness and an addiction) and dual-diagnosis (mental illness and developmental delay). Our goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment that supports wellness through social, recreational and educational opportunities.
Early Intervention in Psychosis The Early Intervention in Psychosis Program (E.I.P.) is a specialized program for adolescents and young adults between the age of 16 and 35 years who are experiencing symptoms of psychosis for the first time and who have had treatment for less than 12 months or no treatment at all.
Crisis Services Crisis services are available to individuals 16 years of age and over who experience a mental health crisis.
You are having a mental health crisis if you are experiencing: * Thoughts of or have a plan to commit suicide * Risk of self-harm or harm to others * Emotional trauma * Overwhelming anxiety or worry * Symptoms or feelings of such intensity that you are unable to cope
Indigenous Mental Health Services Indigenous Mental Health Services are available for aboriginal and metis people 16 years of age and over who are facing mental health issues.
The program aims at providing services that are culturally safe for the indigenous clients. Our holistic approach promotes spiritual, emotional, mental and physical wellbeing.
Women's Services for Sexual Abuse Survivors Individual and group treatment is available for women 16 years of age and older who are survivors of recent or past sexual abuse.
Our goal is to provide a safe and respectful environment for women seeking help to heal from the aftereffects of sexual abuse.
The Counsellor can offer assistance in the following areas: * Education about the later psychological effects of childhood sexual abuse * Help understanding and normalizing feelings and behaviors * Facilitate trauma resolution and promote healing * Restore self-esteem, self-confidence and control over your life

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
