Community Addiction and Mental Health Services Cornwall Community Hospital's (CCH) Addiction and Mental Health Services offer a wide variety of services to meet the needs of individuals within our catchment's area of 75 000 people. * Inpatient Psychiatric Care Unit - The 16 bed Psychiatric Care Unit provides assessment, stabilization and short-term inpatient treatment for those adults experiencing a mental health and/or behavioural crisis. Care provided treats the whole person and is delivered by a multidisciplinary team in a secure and therapeutic environment. Inpatient care offers individual and group therapy, recreational activities, health teaching and social work support.
* Outpatient Mental Health Program - The Outpatient Mental Health Program provides an array of evidence based psychotherapy services for adults,16 years and over experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges. > Psychiatric Consultation. > Individual and group therapy > Multidisciplinary staffing with MSW, R.N., and MD clinical specialists. > Case management chronic clinics (medication monitoring clinics) for the hard-to serve psychiatric population.
* Child and Youth Mental Health Services - Cornwall Community Hospital Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) are community-based services which provide assessment, therapy, support, counselling, group therapy and consultation for children and youth and parent education groups. > Office based Counselling Program - Services such as therapy, couselling and support for children and youth up to their 18th birthday and caregivers. > Outreach Counselling Services - home based counselling services for caregivers and their children; in school counselling services for children offered within SDG to English Public and Catholic schools > Intensive Services - counselling and support for children, youth (up to their 18th birthday) who are experiencing complex issues and their families
* Mental Health Crisis Line/Mobile Crisis Team - Individuals, families or concerned friends (over the age of 16) can call the Mental Health Crisis Line toll free at 1-866-996-0991. The volunteer will offer support and, if required, can make a direct transfer to the Mobile Crisis Team.
* Adult Mental Health Services - Adult Mental Health Services is for adults, aged 16 and over with mild to moderate mental health concerns. We offer a variety of programs to assist people with their mental health needs. All our programs target specific concerns in a timely fashion using evidence based practices.
* The Geriatric Mental Health Services - Individuals 65 years of age and older with a current or suspected mental health problem will receive an initial assessment and follow-up, including counselling, as well as case management.
* Community Withdrawal Management Services - This program provides safe and supportive client-centered community withdrawal management services that are readily accessible, culturally sensitive and provided in both English and French. Services are provided in the most suitable environment.
* Addiction Services - Addiction Services is a community-based program offering a comprehensive range of specialized therapeutic services to address problems associated with substance use, addiction, and problem gambling for individuals ages 12 and over. Our program is geared towards providing services to all those experiencing problematic issues with addiction, including family members and friends of someone who is dealing with alcohol, drug, or gambling abuse. > Substance Abuse Community Treatment Program: weekly or biweekly individual sessions offered to individuals concerned with their use of drugs and/or alcohol. Services include assessment, therapy, referral, follow-up, and relapse prevention. > Problem Gambling Program: weekly or biweekly individual sessions for people who are concerned about their gambling behaviour. Services include assessment, therapy, referral, follow-up, and relapse prevention. > Mother Connections (ECD): intensive case management program for women who consume alcohol and/or drugs and who are pregnant and/or parenting children aged 0-6. Services include therapy, education, assessment, referral, and relapse prevention. > Specialized Opioid Treatment Program: designed to increase access to services for people with opioid addictions. This program focuses on the needs of individuals and their families. Services include assessment, therapy, case management, referral, and relapse prevention.
* First Episode Psychosis Program - "On Track" is part of the Cornwall Hospital's Community Addiction and Mental Health Services. We work closely with The Champlain District Regional First Episode Psychosis program that is based out of Ottawa. It provides early intervention and treatment for psychosis. The goal of treatment is remission of symptoms and community re-integration. We help clients improve their well-being through the use of effective medications and other interventions, such as psycho-therapy, education, individual and family support.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
