Hello and a warm welcome to BetterHelp. My name is Leslie Feder and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with licenses to practice in DC, MD, and VA. I have spent over 40 years practicing social work and psychotherapy. In 1980 I earned my master's in social work from Boston University School of Social Work. I bring a wealth of experience having worked in a wide variety of settings including a prison, foster care agency, psychiatric ward (prior to masters) and family counseling agencies, employee assistance programs (both private and military) and finally Kaiser Permanente. I have worked as a Parenting Consultant in homes, taught parenting, and couples' communications classes, done face to face counseling, but also video/ telephonic counseling and online chat.
I have specialized training in family systems, grief counseling, couple's communication, conflict resolution, life coaching and parenting.
My approach is client-centered, goal-oriented, and strength-based. I utilize ideas and approaches from cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. As appropriate, I recommend helpful books, movies, music, and resources to my clients.
I love to help clients identify and reach personal goals, understand themselves and others better and facilitate the resolution of problems. I enjoy helping clients improve the quality of their relationships through exploring feelings, options, and better alternatives.
In counseling we develop a collaborative relationship that provides safety and unique opportunities for profound learning and personal growth. I would love to work with you.

I’ve only had one session at this time, but so far it seems she is great about keeping me on track during our discussions and recommending the help I need. I look forward to unpacking more of my baggage hahaha.
