In individual counseling, our qualified therapists work with participants one-on-one to identify their goals and tailor sessions to meet their needs. The purpose of individual therapy is a person-centered, goal directed process intended to reduce symptoms while promoting feelings of self-worth.
Some of our specialties include: - Depression/Anxiety/PTSD - Trauma and sexual abuse - Domestic Violence - Life Transitions - LGBTQ concerns - Self-worth and self-esteem - Anger management
Couples counseling assists two individuals in developing healthier ways of communicating and connecting in their relationship. The therapist examines the couples current relationship pattern in order to highlight interactions that aren't working and provide feedback intended to enhance the relationship. Couples counseling is considered more intensive and is not typically considered a long-term treatment. Both partners must be engaged in their relationship treatment and assist in facilitating their own change process, with support from their therapist. It is not uncommon for partners to also be involved in their own individual psychotherapy in conjunction with couples counseling. Couples counseling addresses concerns including: - Trust - Communication - Infidelity - Repeated patterns of stress - Attachment concerns - Life transitions - LGBTQI - Pre-marital counseling - Divorce counseling
Family counseling assists family members in improving communication, managing stress, and resolving conflict. Counselors who specialist in family therapy view the family as a single unit that functions to either create psychological health or maintain dysfunction. Family therapists use a systems approach to improve relationships and increase collaboration. Sessions may involve 2, 3, 4, or more individuals. Treatment may include a set number of sessions or intermittent sessions while family members are also engaging in individual therapy. It is considered a ‘brief-therapy' and is not meant to be a long-term treatment. Family counseling addresses concerns including: - Psychological health of family members - Major life transitions - Communication - Child or adolescent behavioral concerns (ASD, ADD/ADHD) - Trauma - Foster care/adoption - Drug and/or alcohol addiction

One quick last question. Who was seeking counseling today?
Do you know the reason they are not accepting clients?
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
